holograms that are designed and developed from an array of smaller
units (dots). Each dot is actually a separate hologram, which creates a
predetermined effect, usually a simple diffraction grating. When
illuminated with a white light source and viewed at right angle, the
diffraction grating creates a tiny spot of color.
The microscope gratings can be arranged to create a single composite
picture, a sequence of related images, and for different types of
special effects. Dot matrix holograms are bright and colorful
even under fluorescent lighting and are extremely eye catching.
